A remake of a contest entry for a contest.yo dawg
fanart. Because I love that video game so damn much.
This is for the 'I herd U Like Progress' contest running on DA. I do a lot of fanart and I thought it would be fun to enter and look back on some of my older art and rework it!
I chose to re-do and re-visit this artwork here:
I loved the motivation behind me doing this artwork, but the original lacks so much, compared to recent artwork I've done.
In revisiting this art of Amaterasu I really wanted to push what made the original artwork so great in concept:
-Amaterasu is the focal point, while Yamato-no-Orochi is the background, but takes up most of the canvas.
-Orochi's mountain is centre focus, but instead of being in the background, it's in the foreground.
-ALL EIGHT HEADS. In the original I just did not have the skill and patience to draw all eight Orochi heads.
-Fix up the beads. God, the beads in the old artwork are horrible. (Tundra beads)
For the record, I fight with Eighth Wonder most of the time!
-Really focus on chunky rich colouring!
As a result, I am so much more happier with this as an artwork. Whether I win the contest or not, doesn't matter, I learnt a lot in revisiting my artwork and had a ton of fun doing so!
Also; as far as I know, the Japanese lettering is correct for the heads/elements.
I decided NOT to watermark this, due to the original not being watermarked (contest entry) but my policy on re-posting and altering stands:
Please don't do it! Or if you want to tumble/book/tweet this, please link BACK to this page.
And NO altering/chopping or re-drawing any of my work!
